Peugeot 408 parading

On Monday Peugeot introduced the new car model designed especially for the Chinese market. At the Beijing Motor Show the major French automaker unveiled also that the company’s target for 2010 is to increase sales by another 30 percent on China market. Chinese market has been in the focus for several years now, which led to the signing of a partnership with a local carmaker Dongfeng Motor in 2003. In order to conquer the Chinese consumers, the joint venture came up with the idea of a car model that would take in various degrees Chinese ideas and styles. The best models that managed to achieve succ! ess on the Chinese market were the notchback version of the 307 sedan and the 307 saloon. Both models made the brand more appealing to the Chinese customers which reflected in the last year’s record sales of 410,000 vehicles Peugeot like many other Western and Japanese car manufacturers see salvation in China’s explosive development as on US market as well as on the European markets sales have either stagnated or fell due to the economic crisis. Consequently, together with Dongfeng Motor, the French automaker created a new model designed especially for the Chinese market and following the model of the 307 notchback that focuses on visual appeal, interior space and modern design. In front of the journalists present at the event held in Beijing, the new Peugeot DF 408 was unveiled as half-height architecture notch-back saloon, 4.63 meters in length, featuring a large sunroof and a self-contained! trunk. It is currently the longest wheelbase C-segment vehic! le thus offering spaciousness and the exterior makes the 408 a high-class car, elegant, but also business-like. Safety is very important for the Chinese consumer and was also important in the creation of the 408 sedan that includes 6 airbags, three-point safety belts, an audible and visual warning system and front and rear headrests.
