Eighteen years of experience in technology licensing, recruiting and international corporate structuring come from Christopher M. Cantell SigEx's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. His co-founder Frric Artru became the Chief Operating Officer and President for more than 10 years of experience in communication protocols and VoIP industry expertise. Yahoo introduces its new social network Mash
by Tatiana Hadarova

Last year Yahoo introduced new social network called Mash, which suppose to replace the old one -Yahoo 360. Although developing of this system is still in progress and its final version haven't been done yet, Yahoo says that it should be great. Mark Hendrickson from TechChrunch, which is developing this new service for Yahoo said, that Mash should be mixture of all the best features of MySpace, Facebook and MyYahoo. To debug new system and to get external ideas and suggestion to improve it, Yahoo's management started to invite people from outside the company to test the Mash and then give their opinions on Yahoo's blog. According to people's references Mash is different from other social networks. Well, it is the matter of each person's opinion whether there still could be something new introduced about social networks features. A new thing should be that neither you can start and customize your own profile, you can also edit profile of your friend by loading him new modules. Profile pages appear to have consistent structural layout and it is possible to design the background by changing the colors and inserting pictures, as in MySpace. Other special modules include Flick RSS, Ego Boost, Common Friends, MyMoshLog2, Blog Module, Asteroids, Astrology, PimpMyPet, Hover, Kaleidescope, Guestbook and My Stuff. For example "PimpMyPet" module is quite interesting. On profile page there is a little emoticon and users can change his mood, name, face or give him a facelift. Another speciality is that Mash is planned to have also its spanish, vietnamese and portuguese version. Yahoo plans to roll Mash out quietly by invitations, which can registered users send to their friends. So now it is just the question of time if there is a place for new social network and how widespread and popular it will be.

Let's Go Networking!
by Kamila Moravcikova

I'm not gonna ask if you already set up a profile on any of social networking site as I'm pretty much sure you have plenty of them. I'm not even going to ask you which one you prefer as I'm sure you use plenty of them. I'm not going to ask you how much time you usually spend by networking as I'm pretty much sure that it's important part of your day. If I'm wrong, it's probably because you are either little too young or little too old. There are myriad of various social networking sites starting with the biggest and most famous ones (MySpace, FaceBook etc.) and the local, little known ones. One may say this market is pretty saturated, but...have you heard that MTV is trying to launch its own social site? If you are not satisfied with actual situation, there's a chance that your desires will be full filled (let's hope their site will be better that their TV program). Notion "social networking sites" doesn't involve only you, your lovely profile and millions of other users and their lovely profiles. There are also companies that may seem "hidden" to you, but they are very important though. For example SigEx Telecom connects social networking sites and on-line people who are networking-lovers (including both "sitting behind computer" users and "having everything in smartphone" users). "By delivering media device products and services for businesses and individuals, SigEx Telecom enables more players, more networks and more content to come together in a connected world" executives say. Let's go networking then!

eBay changes its fees
by Barbora Misakova

These days the eBay Inc. - one of the biggest American Internet companies is going to make some changes in its fees. Some of them are going to be higher, some of them should be trimming. If this is a good step only the time will show, but some of the eBay's top sellers already think it will not be a good step. The eBay Inc. manages eBay.com & an online auction, it means it is the website where people around the world can buy and sell various goods and services. As a registered user you can start to merchandise with any type of goods such as computers, furniture, all kind of technology devices such as mobile phones, mp3 players you can even buy or sell vehicles, in one word - whatever you want to. You can buy here anything and you can be sure that everything is legal because eBay has its Prohibited and Restricted Items policy. This kind of business was founded in California in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar, Iranian computer programmer and this web site was first time used by public in 1998. From that time Pierre Omidyar became a millionaire and eBay one of the most used online auction web site. Ebay is preparing its price changes to take effect February 20. Ebay is going to change price of listing an item for auction, it should cost 25% less and also you should pay 50% less for offering something for a fixed price. Another good step is that for using Gallery you won't have to pay anything. On the other hand you as a seller will have to pay higher commission for sold items. This growth of commission will be shown the most on the items selling for less than 25 USD where the commission increase will be 3.5 percent higher. Another change will eBay make in the comments system & only good comments will be permitted. As the eBay said the main reason for this change was the fact that most of the buyers were afraid to complain or write any negative comment just from the fear of the revenge from the seller. The third change will have a form of support which will eBay give to the biggest sellers & they will have some fees discounts. Even though I have never tried to buy or sell anything through eBay some of my friends did and they have never complained and all of them told me it is great. One of the advantage is that you will pay less than usual and you can do all this business while you are sitting at home and drinking coffee. You just have to find what you like, click on few links and your new mobile phone or whatever you ordered will come to your home. Concerning the Slovaks and Czechs are usually buying items through eBay, these changes look as a good bargain for them. Maybe I start to think about buying something small on eBay too.

Gasoline under $3, let's celebrate!
by Kamila Moravcikova

Myriad of people in US have enjoyed cheerful news. The gasoline retail price is under $3 for the first time in 5 weeks period. Let's celebrate then! Invite your friends, bring some alcohol and all the party supplies. Party hard, have fun, this price is worth it. And when all your friends are gone, when all the mess is finally cleaned up, when awful hangover is gone, just sit down and try to think a little bit. Do you think this price is permanent? Or do you even think it will keep on decreasing? In the deep of your heart you still hope $1 era will be back some day? Come on! Have you heard about redeemable sources of energy? The bad news is, the crude oil needed in gasoline production is not one of these resources. It's unredeemable, meaning that more you are exploiting today, less you can exploit tomorrow, because the whole amount that's available is given by nature. Once it's gone, it's gone for good. Even though this day apparently won't come tomorrow or next week, it will someday. And you can either do nothing, or just prepare yourself for a slow, but a constant change. Do you need gasoline to fuel your car? Sell it then and get yourself a bike!Or if you are a genius, discover how to fuel your vehicle by energy of sun/wind/something we have plenty of and it's effective and available for everyone as well.

Truck-jam crisis on eastern Poland border
by Ivana Bruderova

The Polish government is facing the first crisis on it's frontiers after it's entry to Europe's Schengen free travel zone. A situation on borders with non-EU countries have been dramatic since the last week. More than 1000 trucks is now waiting for the crossing from Poland to Ukraine or Belarus. The truckers are desperate and furious, some of them have been waiting for fourth day to pass have blocked roads to unable anyone to pass. The reason of tension on the frontiers is effort of Polish custom officers to make their salary conditions better. The truckers said they understand to officers but they want the others to understand also what this situation bring to truckers and to their employers. They appeal government to solve the situation. Interior Minister Gregor Schetyna promised to do it until 2 or 3 days. When the situation will not get better the truckers plan to block the capital city Warsaw with their cars to draw attention to this problem. Until this extreme plan will make true, the trucks are still waiting in queues kilometers long, with the frontier with Ukraine with 100-hour wait for passage. After December 21, the eastern border of Poland became the border of Schengen and it is responsible to guard this zone. The government believes, this position is only for fully-qualified custom officers who could meet requirements for processing border traffic. But the custom officers want to be evaluated adequate for their work. A starting salary for Polish custom officer is 1300 zlotys, the government offered increase of 500 zlotys while the officers demand wage hike up to 1500 zlotys.

Social Networks
by Sandra Stoklaskova

Are you a member of Facebook, MySpace, BlackPlanet, YouthRoots, Linkdeln or SigEx? If yes, you are in luck and you could pride on the fact, that you are a part of one big family. If not, hurry up! Social Networking is an innovative and creative approach, how can people be connected to each other and how they can communicate. This is the way how to share music, videos, photos as well as feelings with your friends wherever and whenever you are. Social networks as SigEx provides talks, views, blogs, websites, video clips, video mails and also communication through SMS, and allows communication from cell phones to the Internet. Niche social networks are designed for different communities, which have, certainly, different interests. But don't worries, creators of these networks have only one interest. Their aim is to keep people lucky, thanks to facilitating communication among them. Kay M. Madati, vice president of marketing at Community Connect and owner of five niche social networks said:"Whether you're an athlete and play sports, or you're religious and you like to go to church, people want to coalesce around things that are culturally relevant to them." SigEx telecom has a different strategy, how to keep their users satisfied. "Our focus on the 'meet or delete' strategy continues to drive the network," said Chris Cantell, SigEx Chief Executive Officer. Social networking is becoming more and more powerful industry, as every day, this digital stream of communication attract new members. Testimony to this is the amount of users, which have joined social networks from the beginning of their existence.

Exchange rate & boring?
by Lenka Lehenova

Money...they are so important for people. Dollar, euro, crown, yen, pound...we just love them. Their valuation is still in move. One day dollar is $1.4785 against the euro, $1.9860 against the pound or Y105.99 against the dollar. But the other day it is different. Everything is just only about numbers. Do you understand it? Why? How can anybody be interested about it? Maybe it is a little boring but we have to realize that these numbers are very important because they influence a lot of things. It would be better to fix it and not move. But there is a lot of factors which influence it. For example war, turbulent world and people's wish to be king of the world. The price of oil depends on dollar. What is situation now? Dollar is still lower now and the price of oil is very high. Then naphtha, electric, cosmetics are expensive. Yes, cosmetics. Do you know that oil is very important part for making of cosmetics? All your dopes, body lotions, perfumes...They need oil. World needs energy. Of course, it depends on oil. Defect of black gold, how people call it, is global problem. Do you know what can happen? After 50 years we will have no oil, no energy, maybe no cosmetics. We should more think about it and try to save it. Scientists try to invent something what we can use instead of it. But it is very difficult. Exchange rate is also important for traveling. Today, a lot of people, specially students travel because they want to earn money. Because the exchange rate is profitable and they can earn more money in foreign country like at home. Then all of these travelers became economist and suddenly they start to understand crazy numbers and they know what is the most profitable for them. I know that sometimes exchange and numbers are boring but it is also about something else. Firstly money, so just think what money mean for you. And also it is about our world, which is only one and we have to save it.

The big boss.
by Zuzana Valkova

I always liked that idea in old movies, when people were hiding their money in socks or under their bed. It was so cute. They were always worried about it. These days everybody knows, that this is not the safest way how to protect your money. We have many possibilities where to put it - we have so many banks to choose. Especially in the country big like the US. There are tons of banks. Like in every other country, they have to have a special system how to coordinate these banks and protect people. In the US is this system called Federal Reserve System. It's something like a central bank of the US. It has many functions, like fighting (of course in a special financial way) against financial crisis, strike the "gap" or difference between private banks and parts of government, which take care of money, regulate this private institutions. This system also represents the US in the world economics markets, and provide financial services for the government. Very important part of its functions is managing of nation's monetary supply and high employment, stable prices in the whole county and of course it manage interest rates. Right now they are discussing about this rates, maybe they will be able to put these rates on lower level at the end, so they can take at least 0.5 off. All this because the Federal Reserve System, called also FED, is trying to help their slow economics. The meeting should be done on Wednesday. So we will see how it will end.

Hudobný 3D film Sundance Film
by Lenka Filipova

Nasadili si plastové okuliare a zrazu sa stali súčasťou skutočnej show, stojac vedľa seba.

More money to borrow, more troubles to expect
by Kamila Moravcikova

My mum used to say that people should not borrow too much money because they just don't know what will happen tomorrow. She didn't know much about Wall Street or stock market, she had just heard plenty of sad stories about people being completely broke by too many loans they had to pay and what she called "lack of modesty". Well, my sparing mother was good in giving advices. However, we & her own children & were really bad in taking them. From time to time I lent some money to my "foggy" best friend. And from time to time for many (and sometimes objective) reasons he wasn't able to pay it back. So I was forced to borrow some money from my younger sister (she was only 7, so she had too much savings than to know what do with them) and sometimes from my older brother (he was a college student at the time). Unfortunately, if my friend didn't pay the money back to me I was not able to pay my debts to my sister (even though she didn't care, my mum did) or my brother and he was forced to ask mum to pay his rent as he was unsuccessfully awaiting me to pay my dues. Mum never forgot to remind us how many troubles we caused. We all were as strong as the weakest part of chain, all connected together, one's bad financial situation influencing others. Our small Wall Street and worldwide economy.

Vráti sa so Sojuzom TMA-12. Do you want a cup of coffee?
by Zuzana Valkova

Some people love it. Some don't. I'm speaking about the biggest chain of coffee stores in the world. Starbucks. This company was based in Seattle and it became the most popular brand of coffee in the US and in the rest of the world too. But why it's so popular? What do they have, what the others don't? So they can offer you coffees, cappuccinos, lates, frappuccinos, you can have it hot or iced, with regular milk, skin milk, organic or soya milk, with any flavor you wish. And if you like the whip cream, there you go. This is philosophy of Starbucks, you can choose your favorite drink from their offer, but also you can ask for something special and they will make it for you. No problem. So maybe this is the reason why so many people love it. Plus you can buy something to eat. If you want sandwich, hot or cold, you can have many kinds. You can order also something sweet like a muffin or ice cream. And what about those who hate these stores? Starbucks was accused by many activists groups, which are fighting against globalization and imperialism. In their opinion Starbucks is the perfect example of American imperialism in the world; they criticize their fair trading and company rules. Starbucks also causes many problems which have a big environmental impact. So who is right? I think there will be always fight between one and the other side. And there will be always people who will go there to buy the products. Because its just a coffee for them.

Difficulties of General Motors
by Barbora Misakova

Sometimes also big companies are having problems. This time the turn probably comes on General Motors, which had to face a loss of market share. General Motors, also known as GM, is an American corporation founded in 1908 in Michigan. After a long years period it had become the world's largest producer of cars around the world. It has manufactures in 33 countries and has more than 250 000 employees around the world. Their trucks and cars are made under familiar brands such as Chevrolet, Hummer, Opel or Cadillac and in 2006 GM produced more than 9 million vehicles. These days it looks like this whopper in the car industry has problems. Although GM still holds global sales on the number outnumbering 9 million vehicles, Toyota's report showed even better results. Also other problems are connected with GM & they had to shut some of their factories and the losses touched also workers when thousands of them were fired. Mike DiGiovanni who is director of global product planning in GM said it is not as horrible as it is interpreted, because the General Motors runs its business not on the high numbers of sold vehicles but on long-term profitability, and they are still successful in this matter. On the other hand not only GM had problems. Although Toyota sales increased in 2007, it had to face troubles at home where its domestic sales decreased. General Motors is still successful outside the US where its sales number shows 5.5 million sold vehicles. Also Far East respect products of this automobile company so its sales in China made from GM the first global automaker which sold more than 1 million of vehicles there. Also sales in Russia and Brazil are satisfactory. All these facts lead me to only one conclusion & also big "animals" can have some little troubles from time to time. And even though I am not a car's fan I am too kind-hearted not to wish General Motors lot of successes in the future.

Jobless issues in 2008
by Claudia Sonea

The International Labor Organization with headquarters in Geneva made a public forecast on Wednesday concerning the unemployment rate in 2008. As it is, five million people are expected to hit the sack as the global economy struggles with the US subprime crisis and rising oil prices. ILO director general Juan Somavia assured that there is nothing certain at this point and the global picture regarding the jobless issue is blurred at this point and despite the global growth that creates millions of jobs every year, there is also an increase of the unemployment. If last year they cheered the 45 million new jobs accompanied by only a slight rise in unemployment, which stood at 189.9 million people at the end of the year, ILO are now concerned that the worldwide jobless rate is set to increase to 6.1 percent from 6.0 percent. Furthermore, the organization's employment director Jose Salazar-Xirinachs added that it could be even worst after recent market turmoil wiped billions of dollars off stock exchanges and thus rising fears of global recession. The slowdown in industrialized countries due to the credit crunch and soaring oil prices has been balanced by a strong economic growth in the developing economies, especially South Asia that last year accounting for 28 percent of all new jobs in 2007. Still, ILO is preoccupied that the new jobs are referring mostly to work classified as 'own-account' workers who lack social security and workplace protection. In Middle East and North Africa there is the highest rate of unemployment at 11.8 percent and 10.9 percent respectively, while Latin America and the Caribbean, Central and Southeastern Europe, and the Commonwealth of Independent States are right after with 8 percent. Somavia reinforced that ILO will closely supervise all development in the future years and try to make sure that new jobs are being created. Stay online and find out what will happen next!

The possible retirement of EBay's CEO
by Tatiana Hadarova

As the Associated Press news has refered the Chief Executive of Ebay Inc., one of the biggest e-commerce site Meg Whitman may retire. That might be based on He fact that the company is now facing slow growth of their stocks and small returns from its 2.6 billion USD gamble on the Internet phone service Skype. According to this news Whitman would leave her position after ten years at he helm. But Ebay spokesman Hani Durzy denied this information and called the report „rumour and speculations." The information that Whitman is planning retire is also in contrast with what some people familiar with the matter have said. According to them Whitman is working on a plan of succession. Factors that might help Whitman to decide is the Ebays slow growth and Skype's acquisition. „It's just seems like her legacy has been sealed and she has done everything she can do," said Scott Kessler, an equity manager for Standard & Poor's. And she is also paricipating in presidential election campaign for the Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Meg whitman joined the company in 1998, three years after the site was introduced and six months before it went public. Kessler also said, that even though Ebay has been in the recent years outmaneuvered by Amazon.com.Inc, Whitman has great credit for the mark she has built for the one of the biggest an most profitable e-commerce company. When she joined the company, it had only about 30 employes and annual revenue of $86 million. Now the number of employees is 15.000 and had $5.97 billion revenues last year. The Wall Street Journal said that the decision can be made within few weeks and her possible successor migh be John Donahue, who was recruited in 2005 to head Ebay's auction business unit.

State-operated economy causing troubles again
by Martina Harvanova

Chinese market is facing problems again. The state-controlled economy is required to behave in the limits of the domestic laws that don't allow free enterprising. From one point of view, strong economy, the biggest producer of all goods and the greatest mark (Made in China), and from the other, conditions acting unfriendly to the evolution of the market and consequently of the public. The negatives of this kind of economy have emerged recently. Moreover, in an apparent way. China Eastern Airlines has refused an alliance proposal from the China National Aviation Corp., parent of Air China. CNAC also outlined a strategic alliance between Air China and China Eastern Airlines involving various systems of cooperation and mutual integration as well as sharing the route network and capacity, establishing frequent flyer programs etc. Shares of Air China dropped 11.8% to 8.70 Hong Kong dollars ($1.50) on Jan, 21st what makes investors worried about the possibly deteriorating financial situation connected with integration with a weaker rival. China Eastern Air Holdings said it could not respond to an offer from China National Aviation Corp as it wasn't complete and lacked some specifics. All the figures that were submitted by Air China, the claimant of the integration, however, may not be attractive to China Eastern Airlines' present investors. Those who didn't experience the situation of state-operated economy conceive the position of China only with difficulties. State just can't solve all the troubles in the society. Some of them must be handled by people, by common entrepreneurs who know how to run a business. To leave everything in the hands of state officials don't repay in most cases. The mentioned crisis is one of those.

Is it a real rise in consumer confidence?
by Lenka Filipova

University of Michigan consumer confidence stated result of 80.5 for January 2008. A little rise is noticed when to compare result of 75.5 with the end of the year 2007. The confidence reached its bottom in October 2005, just after Hurricane Katrina. The previously mentioned slight reversal might be a result of the announcements about the tax cuts proclaimed by the White House as well as decreasing the interest rate reported by U.S. Federal Reserve. Despite the fact that the consumer's sentiment has changed to positive direction at the beginning of the year, there still exist doubts about economic come-down. The improvement goes against worsening economic conditions which are result of several market stock losses, weakening residential real estate, and lowering gasoline prices. According to Ian Shepherdson, chief U.S. economist with High Frequency Economics in Valhalla, "Stock prices are a key leading indicator of sentiment, and the latest declines will hit the data next month." Additionally, ongoing increase in consumer loan rates and mortgages rate will certainly decrease overall consumer spending, which makes up approximately 70 percent of U.S. Gross domestic product. However, on one side, recent report of the confidence assessment of current conditions was 98.1, up from 91.0. On the other side, the consumers still feel doubt about their finances because their mailboxes are just over flooded with brokerage and retirement savings accounts. Thus, there is necessity to treat the improvement of customer confidence carefully.

About a falling rate of flights
by Martina Harvanova

Two of the leading airplane producers Airbus and Boeing are swamped, as the latest reports claim. Although both of them are facing minute problems, their position in the business isn´t the same. The U.S. plane maker outpaced Europe´s Airbus last year. The difference in orders isn´t any massive, in spite of that, Boeing attracts still more buyers than the other one. The year 2007 was called as staggering, but this year analysts from both companies predict a decline in new-aircraft orders. The major question that is obliged to solve is how they manage the backlog which is being reported. Although it may seem that such a business occurs on its smooth way due to the growth of people traveling, this apparent fact isn´t right at all. What are the causes that contribute to such a situation? The people´s mobility is gradually altering. Two decades ago the condition looked like we are traveling more, whether to a vacation, visits or to the work that has become quite a popular trend. 9/11 changed a lot of things, among all also our mobility. Those of us who were terrified of traveling by plane got even more trembling just when considering this means of transport. That is why the rate of flights has declined. However, that is not the only thing causing difficulties in Airbus and Boeing. Soaring oil prices, infirm economic situation and a global credit squeeze are the measures for that. Also health scares of SARS or other world-widely spread threats dropped the passenger figures. Steps that can potentially improve a demand for planes are Asian carriers. As the Airbus CEO Thomas Enders expects,"demand to continue to be strong in 2008, though not at the level of 2007," the producers should focus on Asian market and its buyers. Although Airbus and Boeing assume the year 2008 to be "a normal year" from a point of number of orders, the notice by itself gives some indication about the trend. Slowly but surely the volume of flights will sink. And results for that, mainly a danger of various threats will be. Threats of illnesses, attacks, disasters.

Packaged food still more and more improving
by Martina Harvanova

Revolution concerning food began decades ago. First of all, canned meals became a breakthrough in previous eating habits. Researches and innovations have undergone big and in fact, risky steps in favor of introduction of new ideas in this industrial branch. Hazardous actions at the beginning were worth it. Nowadays, nothing could be deemed a more successful product than fast-foods, packaged food or anything being offered in cans eventually bottles. H. J. Heinz Co., one of the world's largest food producers, has come up with even broader ideas how to improve and enrich the market of prepared and canned meals. Opened about two years ago, The Heinz Global Innovation and Quality Centre has a clear scheme. Its main target is namely adjustment of products to the constantly evolving food market in effort to tweak its offer to consumers. Therefore, Heinz thanks to the cooperation with this research centre has started releasing new ideas materialized in its goods. So, what is new in the branch of half-finished products? Lately introduced Heinz' trend is line of Weight Watchers Smart Ones Fruit Inspirations. Basically, it means line of frozen nutritional meals with intend to feature real fruit combined with protein and crispy vegetables. The headline of the product says: "It satisfies hunger and curbs sweet cravings at the same time." Women represent the target market, because allegedly "they love them while helping them squeeze more fruit into their diets." Meals are available in for such as mandarin orange, pineapple, mango or cranberry. Another idea of Heinz is Classico Organic; already the name tells us what the whole thing is about. This canned food has been announced as "first-ever organic pasta sauce", which means that everything contains fresh organic ingredients. No wonder. The corporate social responsibility report of Heinz of the year 2007 claims the company is recognized by bringing consumers' nourishment and nutrition, what has an impact on people, communities and the environment. Packaged food seems to occur on its rise. This kind of catering will apparently have a bright future, the newest releases of Heinz act as an example of that. Especially throughout the American continent where the tradition of food in cans and bottles have a lot more solid roots.

Recovery of Gulf Air airlines
by Daniela Simkova

Gulf Air airlines ordered 16 planes of Boeing Co.'s new 787 Dreamliner type. Airlines were about to renew its entire fleet, and they are in the process of communication with Airbus for the A320 planes. Adnan Malek explains: "The total order could be more than 35. We are also in talks with Airbus for the A320 narrow-body planes." New Boeings are priced at $4 billion dollars all together. Gulf Air airlines plans to order another 8 planes of this type. Adnan Malek, a spokesman for Gulf Air airlines said: "The deal is worth $4 billion at list prices but would rise to $6 billion if we include the options." Gulf Air will not finance the planes as an airlines. Some money will be donated by the government and the rest will cover money from financial institutions. "The aircraft will be partially financed by the government and partially through financial institutions. We are currently studying all the options," stated Adnan Malek. The airlines had some difficulties with financial loss of about $1 million dollars a day. In November they lowered their loses from $1 million to $600,000 dollars a day. Mr. Malek hopes that Gulf Air airlines will reach some profitability in a short time period.

Depends the tase of wine only on it's price?
by Ivana Bruderova

Higher price of wine equals better taste. This is result of scientist's research funded by National Science Foundation. Their experiment was based on 20 voluntaries who sampled different types of wine. Of course with different prices. They sampled five samples which prices they knew. The five samples not the five kinds of wine. In fact there was only three kinds of wine two of them offered twice. Marked with the different prices. Respondents claimed they recognized five different wines and for the most delicious chose those most expensive. It wasn't professional sommeliers, "only" ordinary consumers, but in spite of this, the result was a surprise for scientists. How much is taste of wine interpreted by our brain influenced by price? It's fact, when we drink expensive wine our brain experiences more pleasure than while we drink the cheap one. This is caused with fact, our senses are firmly connected, and often we perceive something which we expected ant not what is real. Also in the past the scientists made experiments with flair and taste. Voluntaries with covered eyes at first smell for instance an onion and then they should to eat a piece of apple. They really believed they eat onion. The human senses are very complicated but sometimes is very easy to confuse it. The real shock was when in the experiment with wines respondents didn't know the price of sampled wines. They marked as better wines those most cheap! Maybe it is something in our mind that we consider more expensive things to be better in general even if it is not true. Scientists now want to repeat the experiments with sommeliers professionals and compare the results. After this they want to begin research how people experience the pain with the mild electric shocks. Of course they will tell them how strong the pain will be but the reality will be different. Who knows what tomorrow will bring ?

Should the money spoil the hockey players?
by Daniela Simkova

All of us use to dream of earning a lot of money. We assume that if we do earn a lot of money, our productivity will increase, at least a little. But in the field of hockey players it apparently works the other way. It is easy to say, that money will not influence me or my attempt to get better in what I am, in what I'm doing, but it's harder to achieve it. The statistics of improvement of hockey players show that amongst of the three players, who earn 10 thousand dollars a month, get improved just one player, Scott Gomez. Scott Gomez was the only one hockey player, who climbed from the 78th position up to 35th position in the season. In comparison to Daniel Briere and Thomas Vanek, who both dropped their position in this years season even though they both earn 10 thousand dollars, Scott Gomez leads in the improving of productivity. The best earning hockey players turned to the worst hockey players in the season. Only two hockey clubs gained a profit of this, Ottawa and Detroit, which did not buy a lot of players during the summer. Ottawa and Detroit are much more precise in paying money to the players, they would rather see the positive results.

A new car for $2500? No problem...
by Ivana Bruderova

Have you ever wanted a car, but never had enough money? It seems, this problem belongs to the past. Although, one little complication lasts. You have to live in India. The Chairman Ratan Tata, automaker from India presented brand new model of the super cheap car Tata Nano at 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi, January 10, 2008. At the first sight is Tata Nano, tiny little car, but it it can fit five people,if they are not very tall or fat. The company declared to construct cheap model of the car and as Ratan Tata said: " A promise is a promise." Now, cars in India are available for much more people, who couldn't afford it before. Unveil of this car meets different reactions. At one side it's a revolution to construct such a cheap car, but opponents rise objections it will bring more negatives than positives. The roads in India are already overcrowded with number of cars and it is expected the number of people who own cars can rise dramatically after Nano will be introduced on the market. However it needs only 1 litter to 20 km, more cars means more emissions and more pollution to cities. The low prize is consequence of little complements, for instance no radio, no air conditioning and no passenger-side mirror, when you want to have more comfort the deluxe version is available. The company claim The Nano have all required tests of safety. Two more automakers are working on models of cars under $3000, French Renault AS and Japanese Nissan Motors Co. Scientist Rajendra Pachauri, awarded by the Nobel Peace Prize said: "I'm having nightmares," about low-cost cars. In the 2005 Indian vehicles released 219 millions ton of carbon dioxide and it' expected due to the rising production of low-cost cars to the 1.467 millions in 2035. "The cheaper and cheaper the vehicles become the quicker those levels of pollution will increase" said Jamie Leather, transport specialist with the Asian development bank.

Money or climate changes?
by Barbora Misakova

Economy and money & they are the most important things in the world and everyone is trying to make it stable and have them as much as it is possible. That's why are money usually invested in such areas of industry which are gainful such as energy, technology and carbon markets. But are all those earned money more than healthy conditions for living on our planet? There is still more appeals on governments to give more and bigger investments towards environmentally-sustainable industries, which do not have such big impact on climate changes. Governments are probably realizing this fact and that's why they invested in renewable energy in 2006 $ 52 billion, and in 2007 ever more 66 billion dollars! These days are the largest recipients of capital internet, biotechnology and so-called "cleantech". Cleantech is a technology which improves energy efficiency and reduces pollution. Cleantech is so-called green business because it helps to approve situation with climate changes. That's why there are still more and more "money-bags" putting into it. Also China gave higher investments into cleantech & between 2005 and 2006 it jumped 147 %. As Gary Gardner and Thomas Prugh, co-directors from Worldwatch said: "...environmental problems are drastically rewriting the rules for business, investors and consumers" and climate changes as they are touching every single person living on this planet are more important than anything else. Every government and every living person on the Earth should take care and be interested in what's going on with our planet. Everyone's life depends on climate conditions.
