SigEx Ventures : To install Windows Vista, or not to install it? That is the question.
by Ana Maria Ciobanu
I don't use Windows Vista. I don't have a serious reason, I'm just very used to my Windows XP. I didn't even tried to find out how it looks when it first broke into the market on January 30. I got a glimpse of it last month, at a friend's house and I was impressed. It was so different from what I thought it looked like. I haven't bought it but perhaps I will soon. It's tempting in a way to acquire something that sold in 60 million copies since its release and that surpassed in the first five weeks of its release the total number of Apple installations. Microsoft made $50 billion- a first in the history of the company. When you look at this data you are bound to think that it is a really good product. You are bound to think Microsoft is really the leader on the market. This is what would keep me from acquiring Vista. It's like acquiring the latest most fashionable cell phone, or the latest creation from Versace- a trend, something you can live without, dispensable. Maybe I'll go Vintage and install the old Windows 3.1 on my PC just because I don't really like the way Microsoft COO Kevin Turner is lavishing praise. Is really Microsoft the best thing out there or are they keeping younger companies out of the market? by Ana Maria Ciobanu for SigEx Ventures (http://sigexventures.com) |
