Winter is coming
by kristina leskova

The October has begun and the people have to think about the winter. Maybe the weather in your city is still nice but winter will definitely come. People have to be prepared and there is one good message for them. The heating costs should be lower than last year. Take a closer look at this situation. Federal agency reports about energy trends, cost trend, weather conditions and fuel supply. And it is awaited that in coming months (from October to March) the heating costs should be from 20 dollars to 280 dollars lower than last winter. The amount of saving depends on what kind of fuel is used. So this is a good message for people who still read about economic downturn, reces! sion, losing jobs etc. Almost 58 million households use natural gas and for them this could mean saving about 105 dollars when we compare with last year. Users of propane could even save 280 dollars. Another possibility is electricity or fuel oil and these people could save from 20 to 60 dollars. But I think that during recession every saved dollar could make people happier. Much of the saving depends on weather conditions, efficiency of their home and heating equipment. Price of natural gas has decreased due to lower demand and of course economic downturn. The wholesale price of natural gas was about three dollars per thousand cubic feet. And that is much lower than last year. About half of household use natural gas for heating and people in Midwest could also profit from a milder winter and they could save even more money. But the biggest savings will reach household that use propane; they could save up to 280 dollars.
