Through this hard times...
by Barbora Misakova
Every cloud has a silver lining. After year of wailing how terrible this crisis is, how high the unemployment grew and how much the indexes drop is time to wake up. It is a time for us to realize, that nothing is as bad as it looks at first sight. It is truth that unemployment rate for workers ages 20 to 24 jumped from 10.8 percent to 14.9 in one year, but it says nothing about the people’s ability to find some alternative. Many of these potential workers are students, who can use another sources such as student loans or they can try to get a scholarship. And even though it is not the same as to have a job and earn money for your own needs, it is still an effort not t! o stagnate. And that is more than positive. Having a job doesn’t have to mean sitting in the office 8 hours per day and staring at the computer screen. Having a job can also mean earning money in the way you want. When you have some spare money and have enough courage (or at least some original and good idea) you can become investor just like Daniel Lee. These 30-year-old salesmen just cut down his expenses for a while and invest all his money into the stock market. His portfolio tripled its value. Of course, not everyone can be as lucky as him. It is not a rule that when you are between 20 and 30 you must be rich. Stock market and investing is not for everyone. If you don’t feel like being investor you can try something else. All you have to do is to think hard and take advantage of anything you can in these “hard times”.
