European Market Speculations
by Milota Sidorova

I remember the quote of Swiss Physical Economist Andreas Clauss who said 99.5 percent of world’s money is a fiction. They make the markets, stocks, they submit before speculation and its only power is in its number. Our money whether dollar or euro lost its material back up long ago. These papers are no longer valid papers and their value is a question of daily moneymaking speculation. Well, that’s just intro before we get a bite what happened on European markets last Monday. Due public holiday, Wall Street remained shut down on Mon. 18th Jan. European stocks however, remained fueled by another speculations. These were of the corporate kind. British International Power has been negotiating with Gaz de France over a deal. The same scenario takes place between traditional British sweet-maker Cadbury and international corporation Kraft Foods, Inc. Nothing has yet come to a real deal. But the idea speeded up investors. The FTSE 100 index – the major British i! ndex ended up 39.02 points or 0.7 percent, at 5,494. 39 level. The other European indexes such as Germany’s DAX rose 42.58 points, gaining 0.7 percent and finished at 5,918.55. French CAC-40 climbed 23.08 points equally to 0.6 percent to 3,977.46 point level. Euro has been on the above average level past weeks. Its value made $1.50 – the highest quote in the 16-month record. Although the paper rose almost 23 percent against the dollar, it has been slowing by Greece. This country has been struggling great economic problems for so long. The deepening national debt, government’s instability got a right to speculations whether the country should be in bailout by another countries (or let’s say investors) within the eurozone. The problems are mounting and another speculation comes out – the country could save itself by exit from the eurozone.
