Obama calls for new ideas for creating jobs
by Magdalena Rosova

American President Barack Obama promised to take “every responsible step to accelerate job creation.“ Some ideas can be put into action very soon, he added. Obama mentioned program to help U.S. homes be more energy-efficient and also trade measures and possible tax incentieves as a ways to stop job losses in the country. Obama met with more than 100 CEOs, academics, small business and union leaders and officials to discuss the possibilities of creating new jobs, which is definitely hard thing to do. The president said though some ideas can be put to work immediately, others need to become part of legislation for Congress to consider. Unemployment in U.S.! grew to 10 percent and therefore Obama say the state is alarming and they need to take action. In his talk Obama emphasised that government resources are limited and it is mainly up to private sector to create big numbers of new jobs. He is for every good idea, but asked others to realize that there is not that much resources. Labour Department is to report unemployment rates for November. The level of joblessness soared to 10.2 percent in October and is expected to even grow. Unlike Obama who focused on the big picture in his speech, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters that Congress will tap unused money from last year's bailout to pay for new roads or bridges and save the fobs of public employees such as firefighters or theachers. In the session Obama chalenged participants to create innovative ideas that will bring millions of Americans back to work. After that he devided the guests into working groups to brainstorm with administation officials. Labour Se! cretary Hilda Solis told that present unemployment rate is a r! eminder of how much they have to do and the administration won't rest until enough jobs are created.
