Against the climate changes...
by Barbora Misakova

Climate change topic is like a hot potato – it is necessary to talk about it, but no one really wants to do so. But when there are no four seasons anymore, floods are destroying too many coastal areas, snow falls where it shouldn’t and the ice is melting on the north pole we are in a double bind. That is why representatives of the world’s 17 biggest and most polluting nations were holding talks on Sunday. The aim was clear: contain climate change and reduce gas emissions. But realization of it is bit more complicated, especially when the theoretical aim is different from the realistic one. Pressure is on the shoulders of every representative, but the most! on the USA. They have to finalize its position before the conference in Denmark which will take place in December. Another thing to do is to give new amount of money needed for developing world and its clean grow. As said Asad Rehman of Friend of the Earth, this money should mainly help to adapt to the effects of climate change. I would like to know, what should have been the global climate change treaty about? Is it going to be about reducing pollution and so in some way the fight against climate changes, or is it about adaption? As it seems it is more about the adaptation rather than anything else. Poor countries need to adapt to changes in the earth’s climate which threaten us more and more often. And maybe later they will need some funds and technologies to develop their economies without overly increasing pollution. But is it really them, who need this kind of help?
