Chris Cantell Discusses Business: Anheuser-Busch agrees to a takeover to InBev

Anheuser-Busch, the maker of famous beer brands Budweiser and Bud Light, has agreed to a takeover by InBev, a Belgian brewer. Anheuser-Busch is a company with long history- Eberhard Anheuser acquired the Bavarian brewery in 1860 and renamed it E. Anheuser & Co., later after his son-in-law joined the company, it was renamed Anheuser-Busch. Today Anheuser-Busch is the largest brewer in the U.S with market share about 48 %. InBev, the Belgian maker of Stella Artois and Beck's, is the second-largest beer maker in the world behind SABMiller. InBev announced its intent to acquire Anheuser-Busch on June 11 2008 and offered $65 per share, which was later increased to $70 per share. On 13th July 2008 the board of directors of Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. accepted a $52 billion takeover offer. The deal has to be approved by shareholders and regulators yet. Carlos Brito, current CEO of InBev, will be chief executive officer of the combined company too. The company will be renamed Anheuser-Busch-InBev. According to Brito, "combination of Anheuser-Busch and InBev will create a stronger, more competitive global company with an unrivaled worldwide brand portfolio and distribution network, with great potential for growth all over the world." However, the takeover has opponents too. Some politicians were concerned how the merger would affect the 6,000 employees of Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis. In addition to opposition from politicians and civic leaders, there are two websites opposing the merger. One of them is SaveBudweiser.com that claims to have more than 60,000 signatures from merger opponents. Second one is SaveAB.com, which hosted an anti-merger rally in St. Louis.

Anheuser & Co., neskôr keď do spoločnosti vstúpil jeho švagor, bola spoločnosť premenovaná na Anheuser-Busch. Dnes je Anheuser-Busch najväčším výrobcom piva v USA, s trhovým podielom cca. 48 percent. InBev, belgický výrobca piva značiek Stella Artois a Beck’s, je druhým najväčším výrobcom piva na svete hneď po spoločnosti SABMiller. 11. júna 2008 InBev oznámil svoj úmysel získať Anheuser-Busch a ponúkol $65 za 1 akciu, čo neskôr zvýšil na $70 za 1 akciu. 13. júla 2008 zbor riaditeľov Anheuser-Busch prijal ponuku na prevzatie v hodnote $52 miliárd. Dohoda ešte musí byť schválená akcionármi a regulačnými úradmi. Carlos Brito, súčasný generálny riaditeľ spoločnosti InBev, vyhlásil, že “ spojenie Anheuser-Busch a InBev vytvorí silnejšiu a konkurencieschopnejšiu globálnu spoločnosť s neporovnateľným celosvetovým portfóliom značiek a distribučnou sieťou, s obrovským potenciálom rastu na celom svete.” Avšak táto fúzia má aj odporcov. Niektorí politici mali obavy z toho, ako fúzia ovplyvní cca. 6,000 zamestnancov Anheuser-Busch v St. Louis. Okrem odporcov z radov politikov a občianskych lídrov existujú aj 2 web stránky namierené proti fúzii. Jednou z nich je SaveBudweiser.com, ktorá tvrdí, že má viac ako 60,000 podpisov od odporcov fúzie. Druhou je SaveAB.com, ktorá v St. Louis zorganizovala zhromaždenie proti fúzii.

Bush lifts oil drilling ban, wants Congress to act

Putting pressure on congressional Democrats to back more exploration for oil, President Bush on Monday lifted an executive ban on offshore oil drilling that his own father put in place in 1990.
Democratic lawmakers have long opposed lifting the prohibition that has barred energy companies from waters along both the East and West coasts and in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Until today, a whole succession of presidents, also including the current one, has sided with Congress for each of the last 27 years in barring drilling in these waters. The main aim has been a protection of beaches and coastal states' tourism economies. From that reason has been the congressional ban renewed yearly.
However, it still remains unclear how much oil would be available. Bush pronounced it could eventually be enough to produce 10 years' worth of America's current oil production. Democrats rejected Bush's plan as a stunt, which will neither reduce gas prices nor increase energy independence. Although, the move to extend oil exploration will have no practical effect unless Congress acts, too. Both executive and legislative bans have to be lifted before offshore exploration can happen.
Disputative point of the case is, that the president probably doesn't realize there is no exactly direct link between record gas prices and offshore drilling. Knowing bussiness relations is a key point of the whole case and he, whether consciously or unconsciously, just glossed over it. Even if Congress agreed, the exploration for oil would take years to produce real results. It is not projected to reduce gas prices in the short term.
Nor these opinions did not stop Bush from building his case around today's prices at the pump. Furthermore, a favour comes from business groups and many Republican lawmakers. Criticism comes from Democratic lawmakers and environmental groups. However, the public is growing impatient for answers. Nearly half the people surveyed last month said they now consider energy exploration and drilling more important than conservation.

Pondelkom, 14teho Júla, prezident Bush zrušením exekutívneho zákazu o ťažbe ropy, ktorý v roku 1990 ustanovil jeho otec, otvára brány ropným spoločnostiam pre ďalšiu ťažbu tohto čierneho zlata.
Demokrati od nepamäti protestujú proti zrušeniu zákazu, ktorý bol uvalený na energetické spoločnosti vo vodách západného a východného pobrežia a vo východnej časti Mexického zálivu. Po celých 27 rokov až dodnes, celá rada prezidentov (vrátane terajšieho) podporovala Kongresné rozhodnutie o zákaze ťažby v už vyššie uvedenej oblasti. Hlavným cieľom obmedzenia je ochrana pláží a turistických ekonomík príslušných pobrežných štátov. Z tohto dôvodu bol zákon o obmedzení ťažby v tejto lokalite každoročne obnovovaný.
Akokoľvek, ostáva stále nejasné, koľko ropy by bolo možné v danej oblasti vyťažiť. Podľa Bushovho názoru by zásoby nerastného bohatstva pri zachovaní súčasnej produkcie mohli eventuálne vystačiť na 10 rokov.
Demokrati tieto plány odsúdili za zavádzajúce. Podľa ich názoru rozšírenie ťažby nepovedenie ani k zlacneniu palív ani k zvýšeniu energetickej nezávislosti. Taktiež si treba uvedomiť, že tento cieľ ostane bez praktického efektu až do chvíle, kedy sa Kongres rozhodne v danej veci konať. Prv ako začne výskum pre možnosti ťažby, treba, aby bolo súčasné obmedzenie zrušené nielen výkonnou, ale aj zákonodarnou mocou.
Sporným bodom prípadu je, že prezident si pravdepodobne neuvedomuje fakt, že neexistuje priame pojítko medzi rekordnými cenami benzínu a ťažbou. Poznanie vzťahov biznisu je kľúčovým bodom celého prípadu a prezident vyššie uvedenú skutočnosť vedome, alebo nevedome zahovára. Aj keby Bushov plán Kongres schválil, trvalo by roky, kým by sa rozšírenie ťažby ropy premietlo do reálneho života obyvateľov v podobe znížených cien palív.
Ani tieto vyjadrenia odborníkov však Busha nevedia zastaviť v ďalšom budovaní vidiny nižších cien palív na čerpacích staniciach. Podpora prichádza zo strany biznismenov a republikánov, naopak, kritika prevažne zo strany demokratov a environmentálnych združení. Akokoľvek, netrpezlivosť verejnosti narastá. Takmer polovica opýtaných sa v minulo mesačnom prieskume vyjadrila za rozšírenie ťažby čierneho zlata.

Bush lifts oil drilling ban, wants Congress to act

Putting pressure on congressional Democrats to back more exploration for oil, President Bush on Monday lifted an executive ban on offshore oil drilling that his own father put in place in 1990.
Democratic lawmakers have long opposed lifting the prohibition that has barred energy companies from waters along both the East and West coasts and in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Until today, a whole succession of presidents, also including the current one, has sided with Congress for each of the last 27 years in barring drilling in these waters. The main aim has been a protection of beaches and coastal states' tourism economies. From that reason has been the congressional ban renewed yearly.
However, it still remains unclear how much oil would be available. Bush pronounced it could eventually be enough to produce 10 years' worth of America's current oil production. Democrats rejected Bush's plan as a stunt, which will neither reduce gas prices nor increase energy independence. Although, the move to extend oil exploration will have no practical effect unless Congress acts, too. Both executive and legislative bans have to be lifted before offshore exploration can happen.
Disputative point of the case is, that the president probably doesn't realize there is no exactly direct link between record gas prices and offshore drilling. Knowing bussiness relations is a key point of the whole case and he, whether consciously or unconsciously, just glossed over it. Even if Congress agreed, the exploration for oil would take years to produce real results. It is not projected to reduce gas prices in the short term.
Nor these opinions did not stop Bush from building his case around today's prices at the pump. Furthermore, a favour comes from business groups and many Republican lawmakers. Criticism comes from Democratic lawmakers and environmental groups. However, the public is growing impatient for answers. Nearly half the people surveyed last month said they now consider energy exploration and drilling more important than conservation.

Pondelkom, 14teho Júla, prezident Bush zrušením exekutívneho zákazu o ťažbe ropy, ktorý v roku 1990 ustanovil jeho otec, otvára brány ropným spoločnostiam pre ďalšiu ťažbu tohto čierneho zlata.
Demokrati od nepamäti protestujú proti zrušeniu zákazu, ktorý bol uvalený na energetické spoločnosti vo vodách západného a východného pobrežia a vo východnej časti Mexického zálivu. Po celých 27 rokov až dodnes, celá rada prezidentov (vrátane terajšieho) podporovala Kongresné rozhodnutie o zákaze ťažby v už vyššie uvedenej oblasti. Hlavným cieľom obmedzenia je ochrana pláží a turistických ekonomík príslušných pobrežných štátov. Z tohto dôvodu bol zákon o obmedzení ťažby v tejto lokalite každoročne obnovovaný.
Akokoľvek, ostáva stále nejasné, koľko ropy by bolo možné v danej oblasti vyťažiť. Podľa Bushovho názoru by zásoby nerastného bohatstva pri zachovaní súčasnej produkcie mohli eventuálne vystačiť na 10 rokov.
Demokrati tieto plány odsúdili za zavádzajúce. Podľa ich názoru rozšírenie ťažby nepovedenie ani k zlacneniu palív ani k zvýšeniu energetickej nezávislosti. Taktiež si treba uvedomiť, že tento cieľ ostane bez praktického efektu až do chvíle, kedy sa Kongres rozhodne v danej veci konať. Prv ako začne výskum pre možnosti ťažby, treba, aby bolo súčasné obmedzenie zrušené nielen výkonnou, ale aj zákonodarnou mocou.
Sporným bodom prípadu je, že prezident si pravdepodobne neuvedomuje fakt, že neexistuje priame pojítko medzi rekordnými cenami benzínu a ťažbou. Poznanie vzťahov biznisu je kľúčovým bodom celého prípadu a prezident vyššie uvedenú skutočnosť vedome, alebo nevedome zahovára. Aj keby Bushov plán Kongres schválil, trvalo by roky, kým by sa rozšírenie ťažby ropy premietlo do reálneho života obyvateľov v podobe znížených cien palív.
Ani tieto vyjadrenia odborníkov však Busha nevedia zastaviť v ďalšom budovaní vidiny nižších cien palív na čerpacích staniciach. Podpora prichádza zo strany biznismenov a republikánov, naopak, kritika prevažne zo strany demokratov a environmentálnych združení. Akokoľvek, netrpezlivosť verejnosti narastá. Takmer polovica opýtaných sa v minulo mesačnom prieskume vyjadrila za rozšírenie ťažby čierneho zlata.

Fed report released

On Wednesday July 23, 2008, Fed released new snapshot of business conditions. It shows that USA is still facing slower economic growth and rising prices. Many economists predict that Fed will probably leave the key interest rate unchanged when it meets on August 5. It’s because higher rates would hurt the fragile economy and the already injured housing market but on the contrary lower rates would worsen inflation. Growth and inflation indicators turned worse in the summer and some worry that economy could face stagflation, the combination of stagnant growth and steady inflation. Federal reserve Chairman Ben Bernake said, however, that he doesn’t believe the economy will suffer from stagflation. Fed reported that according to the information from Fed’s 12 regional banks the economic activity slowed down. Consumer spending was reported slowing in nearly all the Fed regions. Especially sales at stores for housing-related goods were characterized as weak. Auto sales were characterized weak too, especially for SUVs, trucks and minivans. The manufacturing activity declined, but on the positive side, overseas demand for U. S. exports remained high. This is mainly because of the drooping value of the U. S. dollar. Many Fed regions said that manufacturers planned to rise prices to customers because of the rising costs. Regarding jobs, most Fed regions said employment conditions were about the same. Wage pressures were described as “generally modest”. Bernake said he doesn’t see a repeat of 1970s, when workers demanded and got higher wages but Charles Plosser, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has warned that Fed might need to raise rates sooner than later to defeat inflation.

Pickens sold all his shares in Yahoo

T. Boone Pickens, a billionaire investor has sold all his holdings in Yahoo Inc. because of the way its management acted in sales negotiation with Microsoft Corp.
As Pickens said to the San Francisco Chronicle, he sold all (10 million) of his Yahoo shares at a loss. The reason was his irritation with the companies repeated refuses of Microsoft's offers.
Pickens believes "that Yahoo management was pathetic.", and he refuses to enumerate his losses. But his stake was reached in May, when Yahoo was trading between $24 and $28 per share.
For the past week, though, Yahoo's stock price hasn't reached more than $22.50, what very likely means that Pickens lost millions of dollars. The shares of Yahoo on Thursday gained 3 cents and ended at $20.15.
Some other disappointed shareholders are likely to blast Jerry Yang, Yahoo Chief Executive, and his fellow board members on Friday, when the company's annual meeting is held.
The shareholders are angry because in May, Yang rejected the offer of Microsoft to buy Yahoo for $33 per share. Yang wanted $37 per share and then Microsoft withdrew the bid. $37 per share is the price that Yahoo's stock hasn't reached in 2 and half years.
Currently the Yahoo's market value is fixed approximately $20 billion below the last offer of Microsoft.
Microsoft, too, has offered to buy Yahoo's online search operations in more complex deals two times, but these suggestions were also declined.
T. Boone Pickens invested in Yahoo from a big part as a bet on investor Carl Icahn. Icahn had launched a campaign to get rid of Yahoo's board hoping to revive Microsoft's bid.
Icahn finally persuaded Microsoft to make offer only for a part of Yahoo and then he negotiated a treaty, that gives him and two of his partners seats on Yahoo's expanded board.
And even though eight (out of nine) directors who rejected Microsoft will stay on the board, Icahn still hopes to negotiate the sale.

Frod turning away from truck production

The oil price crisis continues to make victims and Ford Motor Co. is on the list. Due to the soaring of oil price in the US the icon of American automaking has registered the worst quarterly loss of his history, losing $8.7 billion on its truck-heavy line from North America.
As it is, on Thursday Ford announced that six small, fuel-efficient cars will be brought from its successful European line to North America, thus switching from truck production to car manufacturing. However, the plans will be finished only in 2010 and they will have to survive by then. Will they succeed?
On the European market it has plenty of success and it had even in America until the crisis of the oil. Chief Financial Officer Don Leclair stated that they have no problems in surviving with $38 billion in cash and credit lines to which they add $26 billion. Also there is always the alternative of job cutting (200 workers were released of contracts through buyouts and early retirements by June 30 and more to come).
The European models due to be built in North America are: the Fiesta subcompact, Ford Focus (Kentucky and Michigan), the Transit Connect small van and three other that Ford refused to make public. Ford CEO Alan Mulally has big expectations now that the U.S. market faces huge gas prices and the interest is on small cars. They only have to look out for that pesky Asia competitors who have taken over the market in the last years.

Ak by sme sa ich snažili nejako sumarizovať, vyjde nám z toho publicistický boom ohľadne členov tej a tej kráľovskej rodiny, niekoľko významných politikov, či diktátorov, politických väzňov, ďalej malej skupinky VIP a v neposlednom rade to iste budú osobnosti ako pápež, dalajláma, Bill Gates, čím sa blížime k skupinke svetovo známych bohatých podnikateľov a manažérov.
Jednou z postáv svetového diania, postavičku, ktorej neuveriteľný životný príbeh leží tu predomnou na malých útržkoch papiera je nepochybne Steve Jobs. Človek zodpovedný za celé Macintosh a iTunes náboženstvo. Pre tých, ktorí by azda nevedeli, je Steve Jobs jedným z najvplyvnejších magnátov v zábavnom a počítačovom priemysle.
Z tohto kusého popisu musí byť jasné, že riskantnú cestu na absolútny vrchol može zvládnuť iba neodbytný a neustále napredujúci charakter. Vzaté z druhého konca, človek, predátor, manažér bez štipky súcitu, ktorým Jobs nepochybne bol a je.
Správy posledných týždňov poukazovali na chatrnú stavbu hlavného manažéra a predstaviteľa spoločnosti Apple Steva Jobsa. Nakoľko pred dvoma rokmi absolvoval chirurgický zákrok na odstránenie zhubného nádoru na pankrease, obavy z jeho zdravotného stavu nezaujímajú len senzácie chtivú žurnalistickú obec, ale aj akcionárov samotného Applu.
Zdá sa, že Jobs je pre Apple naozaj nenahraditeľný. Keď sa minulý mesiac na promo akcii profanujúcej nový iPhone 3G objavil vo svojom tradičnom čiernom tričku, modrých jeansoch a teniskách, obecenstvo takmer zhíklo nad takmer anorektickou postavou jedného z najvplyvnejších podnikateľov sveta.
Na rôzne dotazy o návrate rakoviny však Jobs poskytol jednoznačnú odpoveď. Jeho robustné zdravie sa vraj potýka s bežnými stravovacími problémami, ktoré zákonite nastávajú, pri vyoperovaní časti pankreasu. Celkovo je Jobs mimo ohrozenia života a úspešne sa z liečby zotavuje.
Na to, aby sme zhliadli čo i len kúsok z naozajstného Steva Jobsa je treba viac než zopár hodín surfovania po internete. Ako on sám hovorí, nikdy nemrhá čas premýšľaním, čo by bolo, keby bolo. Ako zvykol vravievať legendárny Wayne Gretzky: ' Smerujem tam, puk bude, nie tam, kde bol!', dalo by sa toto úslovie považovať za životné motto 'Robinsona' Jobsa, nazývaného aj vizionárom dnešnej doby.
Jobs sa narodil v rozporuplnom znamení rýb, ktoré samé osebe zvyknú oscilovať medzi protipólmi.
Ak by sme hľadali nejaké protipóly, stačí nám obrázok úspešného manažéra, ktorý s vyholenou hlavou a batohom na chrbte kráča naprieč Indiou, len aby našiel svoj duševný pokoj.
Nie všetkým si može byť človek pri Jobsovi istý. Čím si však istý môže byť, je jeho potreba po neobyčajnom. Jeho perfekcionizmus a kontradiktívna osobnosť.
Svoju mladosť strávil štúdiom kaligrafie, ktorú neskôr nazval nevyhnutnou pre súčasný dizajn Macintosh línie.
Jobs bol vždy posadnutý estetikou a dizajnom, čo je nepochybne jedna z predností ponúkaná svetovou značkou nahryznutého jablka.
Počas teenagerských brigád pre výrobcu počítačových hier, firmu Atari, sa zoznámil s o päť rokov starším Stevom Wozniakom, s ktorým o pár rokov založil práve spomínanú spoločnosť Apple.
Cieľ bol jasný. Apple mal ako prvý poskytnúť komunikujúci, technologicky vyspelý osobný počítač.
Pánovi Jobsovi môžeme ďakovať za vynález počítačovej myši, či neodmysliteľného Ethernet portu. Nové nápady, technológie, dizajn a premyslený, neľútostný marketing zasadili ranu takým spoločnostiam, ako boli IBM alebo DELL. Manažérom sa stal John Sculley, v minulosti hlavný manažér Coca Coly. Jobs so svojím zmyslom pre talent oslovil Sculleyho vetou:
'Chceš do konca života predávať sladkú vodu, alebo chceš zmeniť svet? '
Sculley okamžite opustil Coca Colu a vyše desať rokov spolu s Wozniakom a Jobsom pracoval pre Apple. Jobs sa zatial stal hlavným a mediálne známym predstaviteľom. Hoci sa jeho verejný image podobal skôr zapálenému priekopníkovi počítačových technológií, medzi zamestnancami bol skôr obávaným, hysterickým nadriadeným. Ako udázda niekoľko biografiií, strach vo firme prekračoval hranice toho, čo nazvývame autoritou. Zamestnanci si, údajne nemohli byť svojími pozíciami istí, ani počas spoločnej cesty výťahom.
To, čo je však pre niekoho autorita a postrach, je pre iného esencia vizionársky orientovaného obchodníckeho ducha. Napriek tomu, že Jobs Apple získal kredit, svojimi excesmi sa čoskoro dostal do sporu práve so Sculleym, ktorého sám naverboval. Pri výročnom zasadaní sa predstavenstvo rozhodlo podržať práve miernejšieho Sculleyho a Jobs napriek svojmu podielu v rokovaní prepadol. Okamžite sa rozhodol odísť a založil konkurenčnú počítačovú firmu NeXT, ktorá sa stala predmetom jeho know how na niekoľko desiatok rokov. Podľa nezávislých kritík sa Apple z odchodu Jobsa, nikdy nespamätalo. Bol to on, kto naozaj hýbal spoločnosťou. A tak začala pomaly upadať v dave vzmáhajúcej sa konkurencie. Jediným spôsobom, ako ho získať späť bolo odkúpenie NeXT, ako sa aj v roku 1996 stalo. Jobs sa vrátil do pozície vnútorného hlavného predstaviteľa Apple-u.
Počas rokov NeXT sa Jobs venoval aj filmovému priemyslu. Keď v roku 1986 za desať miliónov dolárov kupoval od Georga Lucasa malé Pixar Studios, ani netušil, že sa raz stane svetovým lídrom filmovej animácie. Jobs začal pod značkou Pixar predávať vysoko kvalitný počítačový hardware, ale nakoľko sa predaj techniky ukázal nevýnosný, rýchlo zmenil stratégiu a rozhodol sa prijať ponuku produkčnej spoločnosti Walt Disney na spolupráci svetznámeho animovaného filmu Toy Story. A bol to práve príbeh hračiek, čo odštartoval slávnu históriu oskarových snímok ako: 'Život chrobáka, Hľadá sa Nemo alebo Ratatouille.' Jobs Pixar opustil, keď prijal ponuku na jeho odkúpenie práve samotným Walt Disneym.
Istým takmer vulgárnym pozorovaním je jasné, že Steve Jobs je človek, ktorý veci nenecháva nedokončené. Svoje projekty je vždy schopný doviesť na vrchol a poraziť konkurenciu. Po tom ako sa dostal späť na applovskú dráhu, veľmi rýchlo odstavil oficiálneho predstaviteľa spoločnosti Gil Amelia a ukázal svetu, že je to on, kto stojí za úspechom firmy.
Je to človek obojživelník a napriek jeho vypočítanvému úsmevu, ktorý v obchodných záležitostiach nepozná priateľa, je to človek, ktorý naozaj zmenil kus histórie. A možno práve preto sa o jeho zdravie zaujíma svetová verejnosť.

General concern of somebody's health usually meets several kind of people. They can be, at first, the members of Royal Family, high politicians or world leaders, small amount of VIPs or at last but not least they can be & pope, billionaires or extremely visionary tough popular business representatives.
One of them, whose stunning life mosaic lies down in front of me, written on small pieces of paper is clearly Steve Jobs. Guy responsible for Macintosh and iTune madness. For those who doesn't know, Jobs is one of the most influential personalities in computer and entertainment industry.
Sure, it has to be an extraordinary character to battle all kinds of bugs, tear down the wall of consumer's stereotypes and still fight for his life. In his 53 years, not only trusty fans of so promoted iPhone were able to see more than skinny looking Jobs, performing the new model of iPhone 3G. Sure, it's been more than a press duck to picture Jobs health condition.
His cancer problems did concern even Apple's shareholders. However, this time, like usually, Jobs's reply to all of them was more than straight. There's nothing to worry about.
His fierce burning personality has beaten even cancer and it has been successfully recovering.
To get a glimpse of who Steve Jobs really is, can be a hard job requiring more than just few hours of investigation. However, he never wastes time analyzing what was when...
Straightly looking forward, forever called visionary soul of Apple, to what he has been a founder, let's try to get know a little more.
Born in the sign of pisces, or fish, he has always pointed himself rounding between two circles.
Let's just imagine, one of the richest businessmen with shaved head, backpacking on his spiritual trip all over India. One couldn't be always for sure. What was sure was his demand for extraordinary, contradictional. And so he spent years devoting himself to calligraphy courses on which he claims, that missing one of the lectures would more than significantly tinge present Macintosh and Apple design.
During all his career he has been possessed by aesthetics, that is, clearly one of the most thrilling Apple's advantages.

As claimed, nobody could be sure his positions while elevator barely one casual lift with Steve Jobs.
He has been gaining more than the respect. What is the authority and terror for one, is advanced and pro-future orientated mind for another. Despite of considerable profits of new established company, Jobs came into conflict with the officials. Lately he has left his own company, striking for another one. NeXT, PC technology producing company has become his business for few more years, until bought out by Apple itself in 1996. According critics, Apple has never recovered of loosing Jobs, the metaphysic soul and the wheel of the company. Buying NeXT Computer, they bought back also Jobs, inviting him to inner CEO position.
During the years in between, Jobs has had his hands in bought out of today's world animation tycoon Pixar studios, with the first intention to make it hight end and graphic hardware computer selling enterprise. However, the business didn't work as expected, Pixar accepted first, but not the last offer of Walt Disney. First, but not the last collaboration ended in thrilling, prophetic graphic animated Toy Story movie. Since then Pixar has its leading positions and armorial cooperation on movies such as Bug's life. Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo or Ratatouille. Jobs has left Pixar after another buy out of Walt Disney.
After coming back to Apple, he was sure, he will reach the highest positions. And he did that. He has become the only one official CEO of one of the leading world selling technology companies. I am sure, no one can be in doubts about extraordinary will of this man. Calling him survivor, Steve Jobs, despite of his inhuman, cruel side is clearly out of question one of those few, for who does the world really care.

GM cuts shifts to curtail SUV, truck production

General Motors Corp announced on Monday that it will have to cut thier shifts in Ohio and Louisiana in the plants, because of weak demand for SUV and trucks by consumers. By this action they will eliminate many jobs, about 1, 760. Tony Sapienza, who is a spokesman of GM said, that they will have to cut the shifts in all the plants in Moraine, Ohio, SUV and Shreveport as all of them were producing trucks, so they will eliminate the production by about 117, 000 vehicles. The workers of course are not satisfied. In Moriane about 1000 people will loose their job and at Shreveport about 760.
We all know that this elimination is not sudden. GM was slowing their production of trucks for weeks according to their golas for consumers creating smaller and more efficient vehicles. Therefore they are adding other shifts to the plants which will make the fast-selling Chevrolet Malibu and Cobalt cars. Probably all the plants mentioned before will close in 2010 as a part of consumer preferences. They want to save some Money, about $15 billion through 2009.
They said, that this elimination was done sooner than they expected, thereore the employess were surprised about it and they awaited some kind of adjustment. But not only the weak demnad led to this. Also high gas prices and overall weak economy wear the big reason for drop in the sales of trucks. So now they plan to present six new small vehicles by the ned of 2012. The shares of these motor campanies also dropped. For example Ford shares fell 30 cents, or 5.9 percent, to $4.75.

NEW YORK - General Motors Corp. v pondelok povedalo, že skráti pracovné zmeny na závode v Ohio a Louisiane, čím vyradili 1,760 pracovných miest, ako súčasť už predchádzajúceho oznámeného plánu na obmedzenie produkcie vozov kvôli slabej požiadavke na nákladné autá a športové úžitkové autá.
Hovorca GM Tony Sapienzapovedal, že výrobca áut v Detroite skráti jednu šiftu každému na Moraine, Ohio, SUV závodňi Shreveport, La., výrobni nákladných áut, skracujúc produkciu o okolo 117,000 áut.
Závodňa Moraine skráti svoje druhé šifty 29. septembra, čím ovplyvní 1,000 z viac ako 2,000 hodinných a platových závodných pracovníkov, povedalo GM. V Shreveport, ktorý zamestnáva skoro 2,000 ľudí, okolo 760 stratí svoju prácu, povedalo Sapienza.

GM povedalo minulý mesiac, že závodňa Moraine a tri ďalšie severo americké pickupové nákladné autá by boli zavreté rokom 2010 ako súčasť toho, čo Chief Executive Rick Wagoner povedal, že je permanentná požiadavka apotrebiteľských preferencií k malým autám .Ako časť plánu viesť klesajúci trh $15 billiónov počas 2009, povedalo GM v Júli 15teho, že by to urýchlilo tie uzavretia, ale spoločnosť ešte nezverejnila detaily.

GM's U.S. predaj klesol o 16 percent v prvej polovici roka, hlavne ako výsledok potápajúceho sa predaja nákladných áut, a nie je to len kvôli tomu, že výrobcovia musia čeliť nízkym požiadavkám.
Japonský rival Toyota Motor Corp., ktorý prpredbehol GM o 277,532 v predaju áut celosvetovo v prvých šietich mesiacoch roka, skrátili svoje globálne plány skoršie v pondelok z 350,000 áut na 9.5 milliónov, zvaľujúc toto stagnovanie na Severoamerický predaj.
Toyota tiež skracuje produkciu na menšie modely. Povedali tento mesiac skoršie, že plány na zatvorenie produkcie SUV a veľkých áut na U.S. továrňach na tri mesiace začínajúc augustom, začne stavať Prius hybrid v U.S. prvýkrát v 2010.
Ford Motor Co .minulý týždeň oznámili plány na znovuobnovenie dvoch U.S. tovární aby vyrábali menšie, efektívnejšie vozidlá namiesto nákladných a SUV. Ford tiež oznámil plány na prínos nových šiestich malých vozidiel v Severnej Amerike z Európy koncom roka 2012.
GM akcie klesli o 90 centov, alebo 7.6 percent, aby sa zastavili na $11 v pondelok. Ford akcie klesli o 30 centov, alebo 5.9 percent na $4.75, a Toyota's U.S. akcie spadli z $3.28, alebo 3.6 percent, na $88.54.

Starbucks details store closing plan as posts loss

Next year the Starbucks company will have to close its stores across the U.S. and also Amercia, as ti announced it on Wednesday. According to Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Schultz the company has problems and it has to face the competitiors as are McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts. This shutdown is really necessary, as the company is on its edge right now. They have much work before them because they are not satisfied with what they have done in the last period. Now they will focus more on the long-term plans to make them a new agenda.
Starbucks company is now closing about 600 stored in the U.S and about 61 in Australia. Porbably the first 200 will close in the fourth quarter and rest of the stores probably in the October in the fiscal 2009. According to some analysts this reduce could help the company in their current slow sales. It will on the other hend probably help the other existing stores to increase their revenues.
They reported a fiscal third-quarter net loss of $6.7 million, which is the first sicne they began in 1992. Except 17 cents per share in charges, the company has profit of 16 cents per share.
However, the company sees also the new stores opnenings, internationally, about 825 in the year 2008 and in the year 2009 it expects to open about 900 new stores. It hopes of course to have more success abroad than at home. But the value of the shares of the company decreased in more than 45 percent when we compare it to the last year.

General Motors Financial Loss. America Buys Less Cars...

General Motors company has released its financial review for 2Q last Friday. As expected, the largest American and the fifth largest worldwide automaker has finished its sum again in red zone numbers.
Following its financial turmoil during past few years, literally with 38 billion dollar loss in 2007, the report only reinforces doubts and fears hanging on General Motors.
Company balanced $ 15,5 billion loss – the third highest during last hundred years. In fact, reported drop has topped Wall Street expectations almost four times higher. Pure announcement of loss has declined share value minus 11 percent immediately. Excluding shares GM lost almost $11.21 per share, instead of forecasted $2.67, expectation released on New York's market.
The drops are clearly linked with continuously declining demand for cars. When discussed oil price issues, only North American region reported 20 percent cut on sales. The general flop is referred to fading light trucks sales, that in fact create the very core, literally 60 percent of total gain. However, the situation remains the same for every car maker in U.S.
Despite of recording break out, the company, producing famous Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Opels, Pontiacs, Hummers and many others stay positive. Perhaps, they can handle upcoming quarter 2008.
Most of the concerns claimed, whether company operates enough cash to run its worldwide business.
According representatives they will need at least $11 billion, but Chief Financial Officer Ray Young said GM is on track to free up $15 billion in liquidity with cost-cutting, asset sales and new borrowing under a July plan intended to assure investors that the automaker can ride out the downturn. The inner strategy to adapt new market conditions also counts with 5,000 cut off white collar jobs.
July 2008 balanced with $21 billion in cash and $5 billion in undrawn credit.
Representatives also explain that declining lease costs loose the company at least $2 billion. However, the latest trend among Americans was to rent a car, and sell it in auction after its lease expires. Let's count troubled oil prices, consequently 18 percent less drivers on the roads, higher demand for public or alternative – health friendly transport, one must be sure, that they have to adapt, they have to react quickly.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Starbucks Corp vydali nové detailné plány v stredu ohľadom zatvorenia obchodov v U.S. tento rok a aj ďalší, povzbudzujúc investorov ktorí cítili, že kávová spoločnosť doma príliš veľa stavala a tak posielajú svoje akcie hore o 4 %.
Stále však, všadeprítomný reťazec poslal ich straty v prvej štvrtine, keďže sa chytili zatvorenia obchodov.
Starbucks už oznámil, že zavre 600 obchodov v U.S. a 61 v Austrálií. Spoločnosť očakáva zavre 200 obchodov z tých v U.S. v poslednej štvrtine a ostatné vo fiškálnom roku 2009, počínajúc októbrom.
Kávový reťazec uistil svoje fiškálne odhady v 2009 na vyrovnanie zárobkov z 90 centov na $1 za akciu a povedal, že teraz očakáva mať určité netové zvýšenie 60 obchodov v U.S. za obdobie.
"Vyzerá to tak, že F09 znovy zopakovanie vedenia $0.90-$1.00 môže byť dosiahnuteľné," analytik RBC Capital Markets Larry Miller povedal Reuters v emaili, ktorý povedal, že novinky by mohli akcie spoločnosti zraziť na zem, ktoré stratili takmer polovicu ich hodnoty z minulého roka.
Starbucks oznámil fiškálnu stratu z tretej štvrtiny z $6.7 milliónov, alebo 1 cent za akciu, jej prvú odkedy sa spoločnosť stala verejnou v 1992. V roku prvej štvrtiny jej net profit bol $158.3 milliónov, alebo 21 centov za akciu.
S vylúčením 17 centov za akciu v daňových prípisoch, ktoré súvisia so zatváraním obchodov a reštrukturovaním, Starbucks malo profit za akciu 16 centov, oneskorujúc 18 cenotvý priemer, Wall Street cieľ, podľa Reuters Estimates.
Totálne tržba zvýšila sa pomalšie ako sa očakávalo z 9 percent na $2.6 billiónov z $2.4 billiónov, ako U.S. business sa zhoršil z prednostnej pozície v štvrtine a prispel k strednému poklesu v predaji na založených obchodoch.
Spoločnosť znížila svoje otváranie U.S. obchodov na fiškálny rok 2008 na okolo 900 nových obchodov, dokonca distribuovala medzi spoločnosťou a licenziou.
Medzinárodne, Starbucks teraz vidí okolo 825 netových nových obchodov počas 2008 – vrátane zatvorení v Austrálií.
Medzinárodne, Starbucks plánuje otvoriť okolo 9000netových nových obchodov v 2009. Dve tretiny z týchto obchodov očakávajú mať licenziu.
Na rok 2009, spoločnosť očakáva hlavné výdaje okolo $750 milliónov, odrážajúc týmmtie zredukované obchody pre U.S. a Medzinárodné segmenty.
Akcie Starbucks narástli na $15.25 z ich zatvorenia Nasdaq $14.67.Posledný rok, akcie Starbucks stratili viac než 45 percent ich ceny.

El próximo año la empresa Starbucks tendrá que cerrar sus tiendas a través de EE UU y también Amercia, como lo anunció el miércoles. Según el Presidente Howard Schultz la empresa tiene problemas y tiene que afrontar competidores como son McDonald's y Dunkin' Donuts. Este cierre es realmente necesario, como la empresa está en el borde ahora mismo. Tienen mucho trabajo porque no están satisfechos por lo que han hecho en el período pasado. Ahora se enfocarán más en unos proyectos a largo plazo para crear su nueva agenda.
Starbucks ahora cierra aproximadamente 600 restaurantes en Estados Unidos y 61 en Australia. Los primeros 200 se probablemente cerrarán en el cuarto trimestre y el resto en octubre 2009. Según algunos analistas esta reducción podría ayudar a la empresa en sus actuales ventas lentas. Esto probablemente ayudará a los otros restaurantes existentes para aumentar sus ingresos.
Informaron una pérdida del tercer trimestre fiscal que es de 6.7 millones de dólares, es la primera desde que comenzaron en 1992. Excepto 17 centavos por acción en gastos, la empresa tiene el beneficio de 16 centavos por acción.
Sin embargo, la empresa ve en el futuro también aperturas de nuevas tiendas, internacionalmente, aproximadamente 825 en el año 2008 y en el año 2009 quieren abrir aproximadamente 900 nuevas tiendas. Esperan que tengan más éxito en el extranjero que en casa. Pero el valor de las acciones de la empresa disminuyó más del 45 por ciento en comparación con el año pasado.

Recently I have heard of a state of 'growth recession' in United States of America. Although this quite unusual word reunion, literally we speak of despite some economical margins tend to point a growth, talking in general, American economy is not doing well at all.
The most often discussed reason are clearly the mortgage crisis ( that is about to celebrate its first birthday these days), followed along with the credit crisis, oil prices issues and one of the most important cases down in U.S. - the unemployment.
More than 8.8 of total 305 million American citizens have remained jobless in July. In fact the unemployment rate has reached the maximum in past four years, as Labor Department said on Friday. Approximately 51,000 job cuts jumped the index from June's 5.5 up to 5.7 percent. The crisis has impacted the manufacturer's business, especially construction division cutting off more than 22,000 jobs. Manufacturing has been surviving, however not growing in July 2008.
Many Americans see their fortune raking around communication and public relation fields. However, situation is not that easy to strike. As regarded, most of job hunters are applying on-line, intending to save their time and gas expenses. However, there's still been a trend to employ an applicant, interviewed face to face than anonymous file in the database. And moreover, each job portal, nor enterprise websites require an individual registration. If imagined being stressed father of a family looking for a job in his forties, making list of thousands of different passwords for thousands of different websites can be pretty annoying.
Something must be done, that's what both presidential candidates proclaim these days. Unemployment issue is one of the most influential themes of current election. Naturally, not everyone had a chance to succeed. Actually one in five of teenage applicants has succeed. The situation should be recovered in upcoming school year.
However, critics don't see it that awesome. The unemployment rate forecasts talk about a cut off another half million offers, peaking final 6.5 percent index.

Lehman may sell mortgage assets to Black Rock

According to The New York Post website well-known global financial services firm Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. has found several buyers for it obviously plans to sell about $0 billion in commercial mortgage assets and other securities. Lehman Brothers would like to sell some of the risky assets to domestic or foreign buyer and it is possible that they will provide funding for the sale. Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. was founded in 1850 as a family company and now it includes some notable subsidiaries such as Lehman Brothers Inc., Neuberger Berman Inc., Aurora Loan Services, Inc., SIB Mortgage Corporation, Lehman Brothers Bank, FSB, and the Crossroads Group. However, the firm has had also some difficulties. In 2007, it shut down its subprime mortgage lending unit BNC Mortgage LLC, which was one of the top 20 subprime producers in 2006 originating over $14 billion in loans. Lehman comment in press release was that “market conditions have necessitated a substantial reduction in its resources and capacity in the subprime space.” The act eliminated 1,200 positions. In June 2008, CBNS first reported that the Lehman Brothers executives met with the officials at Black Rock to negotiate the possible sale. Since then the company´s financial situation only got worse and it has announced massive writedowns, losses and off course the need to raise the capital. According to the financial experts Lehman´s writedown for the third quarter could be approximately $3 billion. Some people close to the company said that it has been considering to sell even a part or all of its subsidiary Neuberger Berman which deals with money management. But so far these are only unconfirmed rumors. The truth is the subsidiary produces steady revenues and if Lehman will sell even a piece of it the firm might very well end up weakened considerably. As far as the potential deal with Black rock is considered nobody knows how that would exactly look.

Nedávno som započula informáciu o tzv. 'rastovej recesii' Spojených Štátov Amerických. Hoci pojem ' rastová recesia ', nie je zrovna oficiálnym ekonomickým vyjadrením, kritický video blog chcel doslovne poukázať na stiuáciu, ktorá podľa vybraných ukazovateľov na americkej burze vyvoláva dojem, že ekonomika Štátov posilňuje, aj keď to tak naozaj nie je.
Najznámejšími dôvodmi, ktoré dlhodobo potápajú Ameriku pod vodu sú predovšetkým, takmer ročná hypotekárna kríza, sprevádzaná následkami kreditnej krízy, záležitosti okolo cien ropy a palív, nesprávna menová politika FED-u a nepochybne – po piatkových správach strašiak číslo jedna – najvyššia nezamestnanosť Spojených Śtátov za posledné štyri roky.
Podľa vyjadrenia Úradu pre Nezamestnanosť americkí zamestnávatelia počas júla prepustili takmer 51 000 zamestnancov, čím miera nezamestnanosti stúpla na rekordných 5,7 percenta. Doslovne 8,8 nezamestnaných z približne 305 miliónov Amerických občanov. Najviac postihnutý bol práve výrobný a strojársky priemysel, ktorý uvoľnil takmer 22 000 pozícií. V snahe ušetriť výdavky za stúpajúce ceny energie, ekonomika tratí práve negatívnymi správami o nezamestnanosti, ktoré, ako vieme, priamo ovplyvňujú náladu na burze. Ak by sme však hodnotili spomínaný strojárenský priemysel, môžeme povedať, že prežíva. Index aktivity výrobcov sa ustálil na 50 percentách, čo znamená, ani zisk, ani stratu.
Mnoho nezamestnaných sa počas uplynulého snažilo zamestnať v sektore komunikácií, prípadne ľudských zdrojov a služieb, teda oblastiach relatívne bezpečne vzdialených od priameho vývoja cien ropy a teda energií.
Avšak ani tu sa situácia nezdá byť taká ružová. Väčšina uchádzačov sa na voľné pozície hlási on-line, pomocou internetu. Tým môžu zdanlivo ušetriť cestovné náklady na pohovor. Napriek tomu, zamestnávatelia uprednostňujú, uchádzačov, ktorí o pozíciu prídu požiadať osobne.
A na druhej strane, podľa prieskumov verejných portálov, ktoré ponúkajú prácu, tak samotných stránok firiem, drvivá väčšina na vstup vyžaduje osobitnú registráciu, čo v preklade znamená nespočetné množstvo hesiel a potvrdení na nespočetné množstvo stránok, ktoré ako sa zdá, v praxi prinášajú aj tak mizivé výsledky.
'Niečo sa musí spraviť', zapálene hlásajú obaja prezidentskí kandidáti počas posledných týždňov. Otázka nezamestnanosti je ten čierny kôň, potrebný na získanie prezidentského kresla. A tak obaja ponúkajú riešenia, pričom neváhajú ostro podkopávať vízie toho druhého. Obama sľúbil úľavu až 1000 dolárov na energiách pre ako rodiny, tak jednotlivcov. A tak ako McCain, chce podporovať malých a stredných podnikateľov. Propagandy viac menej rovnaké, líši sa len nálepka – demokratický či republikánsky.
Súčasná vláda po piatkovej správe ihneď vyhlásila, že Biely Dom podnikne kroky na zlepšenie situácie a vytvorenia nových pracovných miest. Aké však budú jednotlivé kroky, to si už hovorkyňa Bieleho Domu, Dana Perino nechala pre seba.
Situácia sa čiastočne zhoršila aj zvýšeným počtom mladých ľudí a študentov, hľadajúcich letnú brigádu. Aj tu nezamestnanosť prekonala rekord a to za posledných 16 rokov. Prácu si nenájde každý piaty teenager. K zlepšeniu by teoreticky malo prísť na začiatku školského roku, podľa pozorovateľov by odliv brigádnikov nemal situáciu naozaj zlepšiť. Práve naopak, zhodnotením všetkých súčasných kritérií by do polovice budúceho roku malo o prácu prísť ďalších pol milióna obyvateľov. Index nezamestnanosti by mal dosiahnúť 6,5 percenta.
Ak by sme chceli stručne zosumarizovať súčasnú situáciu v Spojených Štátoch, zdá sa, že blahosklonne utrácajúcim časom pomaly, ale isto odzvonilo. Vďaka vysokým cenám benzínu klesol počet vodičov na cestách takmer o 18 percent, pričom stále viac ľudí využíva mestkú hromadnú dopravu a v letných mesiacoch aj alternatívne dopravné prostriedky, ako sú napríklad bicykle a nohy.Taktiež ma šokoval údaj inernetového serveru yahoo, ktorý zvýšenie ceny palív o jeden dolár prirovnáva k úbytku na váhe obyvateľov až o neuveriteľných 1,8 kilogramov.
Pokles tržieb pociťuje aj sektor reštaurácií a stravovacích zariadení. Obyvatelia v posledných mesiacoch, pred návštevou reštaurácie zväčša preferujú nákup potravín a polotovarov a ich domácu prípravu, čo však z hľadiska spoločenského života rodiny, vôbec nie je také zlé.
Amerika chudne a prispôsobuje sa podmienkam, ktoré sú alfou a omegou zvyšku sveta. Možno im to vráti akúsi humanitu.
Naopak, podľa raňajšej správy denníku Forbes sa za posledné roky vo svete zdvojnásobil počet miliardárov. Triedne rozdiely sa vyhrocujú a zdá sa, že neobídu ani 'all is possible' Ameriku.

Podľa internetovej stránky amerického denníka The New York Post hľadá renomovaná investičná spoločnosť Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. potenciálnych kupcov, pretože plánuje odpredať komerčné hypotekárne aktíva ako aj ďalšie obligácie v hodnote približne 3 miliardy dolárov. Banka Lehman Brothers by chcela predať určitú časť rizikových aktív či už domácemu alebo zahraničnému kupcovi a je možné, že bude predaj aj financovať. Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. bola založená v roku 1850 ako rodinná firma a dnes má niekoľko významných dcérskych spoločností ako Lehman Brothers Inc., Neuberger Berman Inc., Aurora Loan Services, Inc., SIB Mortgage Corporation, Lehman Brothers Bank, FSB, and the Crossroads Group. Avšak firma mala i určité ťažkosti. V roku 2007 bola nútená zavrieť dcérsku spoločnosť BNC Mortgage LLC, ktorá predstavovala hlavného poskytovateľa „subprime“ čiže riskantných hypoték. V roku 2006 sa BNC Mortgage ocitla medzi dvadsiatkou najrenomovanejších poskytovateľov takýchto pôžičiek so ziskom 14 miliárd dolárov. „Zlé trhové podmienky boli dôvodom značného znižovania zdrojov spoločnosti a takisto výkonnosti v tejto oblasti,“ komentovala banka vtedajšiu situáciu. V dôsledku tohto kroku bolo zrušených 1 200 pracovných miest. V júni 2008 televízna stanica CBNS po prvýkrát priniesla správu a o stretnutí vedenia Lehman Brothers a predstaviteľov Black Rock a možnom predaji. Odvtedy sa finančná situácia spoločnosti značne zhoršila, ohlásila nemalé zníženie hodnoty aktív, straty a samozrejme potrebu zvýšiť kapitál. Podľa finančných analytikov by pokles hodnoty aktív spoločnosti v treťom kvartáli mohol predstavovať približne 3 miliardy dolárov. Určitý ľudia blízky spoločnosti tvrdia, že sa zvažoval dokonca i predaj časti alebo celej dcérskej spoločnosti Neuberger Berman, ktorá sa zaoberá peňažným manažmentom. No naďalej ide len o nepotvrdené chýry. Pravdou je, že Neuberger Berman vykazuje stály profit a pokiaľ Lehman predá čo i len časť z nej, mohlo by dôjsť len k ďalšiemu oslabeniu firmy. Čo sa týka potenciálnej dohody s Black Rock nikto zatiaľ nevie ako presne by mala vyzerať.
