Chris Cantell Discusses Business: Obama's Projects
by Jana Passova
Barack Obama said that when he will become a president he will be able to spend 210 billion dollars to create new jobs in construction and environmental industries. He wants to win over economical aims. Obama is thinking about 2 projects. The first one is environmental. It is the larger one which should create about 5 million "green collar" jobs. A point is to develop energy sources that will be friendlier to environment. Investments should be around 150 billion dollars. Next project should cost around 60 billion dollars. They would go to National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank. He plants to rebuild highways, airports, bridges or other public places. Obama is ready to create around 2 million positions in the construction industry. There were some questions about where is Obama able to get all this money from. According to his announcement, he would finish a war in Iraq, cut corporations tax breaks, tax carbon pollution and increase taxes to people and companies with high income. Some people think, Obama has come with ideas that Hillary Clinton proposed longer time ago. Obama was not able to avoid criticism as well. There are some theories that he would be not able to solve more difficult problems as a president when he is not able to solve problems he has as a presidential candidate. Obama said he would be required to raise fuel economy standards. This was part of his speech in Detroit when he visited automakers last year. It might be he just forgot to mention it on the visit a day after GM reported the largest annual loss. It was 38.7 billion dollars in 2007. Anyway he is sure that it could change with a support of government. Obama won several primaries in last days. These victories moved him ahead of Clinton in the number of delegates.
