Top Yahoo executives leaving the company
by Zuzana Zelenakova
Several years ago Yahoo, Inc was number one in the Internet industry, however, a lot has changed since then. Lately, the company found itself unable to catch up with the rivals on the market such as Google and Facebook. Frequent changes in the management of the company have certainly contributed to this fact. And now three top executives decided to leave the search giant and thus putting CEO Carol Bartz in a very difficult situation. The trio leaving the company consists of Hilary Schneider, head of Yahoo´s North American business, David Ko, head of Yahoo Audience, and Vice President of Media, James Pitaro. As Yahoo announced Hillary Schneider will be “leaving ! Yahoo after a transition period.” “Hilary Schneider has played a major role at Yahoo in driving the company’s strategies for content, online advertising and more,” read the company´s statement. As Carol Bartz said the executives leave for “different reasons that suit their life. So everyone stay calm -- we have a good plan in place. In fact, I’m more fired up than ever and can roll with the punches. Yahoo! is a great place,” she added enthusiastically. Despite her positive approach to unfavorable news, no doubt, there is a heavy burden on her shoulders right now. Another thing that contributes to the pressure mounted on the CEO is the falling tendency of the company´s stocks. They have decreased by almost 15 percent this year. These are not the only departures that Yahoo experienced this year. Yahoo lost also Head of Revenue for North America Joanne Bradford, Front Page head Tapan Bhat, Vice President of Social Platfor! ms Neil Sample and Vice President of consumer products Larry C! ornett. As CEO Bartz pointed out it will take several years for Yahoo to get back on track.
