Christmas and holiday shopping season
by Barbora Misakova

The Christmas is coming and all what the economists and analysts from Wall Street are thinking about is the holiday shopping season and potential gains. Consumers are afraid as unemployment is still circling around and credit is tight. If they have some more money they just try to save them for bad times. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Economy.com said: “U.S. consumers are no longer panicked, but they remain cautious” and that goes for all consumers around the world. As we are getting closer to the Christmas Eve, the households are monitored and studied more carefully. What do they buy, how much do they pay for the goods and how. Existing statistic! s say that the number of bank credit cards in circulation has fallen 18 percent since the year began. It is connected with tightened credit standards of banks which are facing soaring loan losses. According to Paul Dales, U.S. economist at Capital Economist it seems unlikely that households will be able to spend more freely anytime soon. Altogether, it is not a point of Christmas, is it? The most important is to be together. The whole family should be connected at some small and calm place where they can stay. They should have a time and nice word for each other, they should have a time to talk and laugh, to enjoy few free days, maybe have some fun outside in the snow. Christmas should be the days of peace and nothing should be disturbing it. Who is actually interested in auto sales, rising and falling indexes or GDP when the most beautiful holidays are ahead!?
