Who Is the Winner
by Jana Passova

FCC, Federal Communications Commission, exists since 1994. It is a company, which conducts auctions of licenses for electromagnetic spectrum. The auctions are open for every company or person who has a valid access. Latest wireless auction could be thought as the most profitable ever. The number of bids exceed a rate that the federal government would never expect. Five swaths of spectrum were sold for $15.64 billion, what means, that it outnumbers the highest record 14 %. The result is that a network for mobiles will be open to all devise and service. The bid for The C block, the bigger one, was $4.71 billion, what means a 2.3% over the FCC's $4.6 billion minimum price. The highest bid could come from Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless is owned by Verizon Communication and Vodafone Group. Or the other resource could be Google, famous Internet search titan. Now it could seem there are no bids for D blocks, what is another open-access part of spectrum. It was hold as a leeway for public safety agencies. According to the analysts the D block will have to be auctioned very soon. All this mystery around the C block action will bring new things. For example three of the five blocks that were auctioned will allow the owners step over traditional discretion. It brings new possibilities for users as well as for provider. It depends only on the winner what happen now. In case the Verizon is the winner it will be open hardware. Google will offer new services and applications for mobile equipment holders. Finally, it doesn't matter who is the winner. More important is the fact, how much money will be able to bring into new business.
